Always buy dynamic. The only scenario where static makes sense is a single-use event badge.

Where it needs care is staff cards issued by an employer: the business is the controller, the employee’s name, photo and direct line are personal data, and the lawful basis is normally legitimate interests. Document it, and give staff a route to object to, say, having their photo published.

Troubleshooting: when a card does not read
- Nothing happens on iPhone — screen must be awake and unlocked. Hold the card to the very top of the phone. Older iPhones need the Control Centre NFC reader.

- Thick case or metal accessory — remove the case and retest. Metal popsockets and card-holder cases block the field completely.
